Rowing Machine Spec Index
1Choose what the score is for, then filter
FitScores are comparable only within one intent: each intent is the score of one of our buying guides, so the same rower can score higher for small spaces than for tall users, or the reverse.

Click a column name to sort; swipe sideways inside the table on mobile. A dash means the spec is not listed by Amazon or the manufacturer. In the FitScore column, “Not rated” means the machine is not ranked in the guide for that intent.

Every rower we rank, spec by spec.
Compare resistance, weight and height limits, rail length, size, storage and subscriptions side by side, then score every rower for the use you care about.

Short answer
This index lists the specs of all 36 in-stock rowing machines in our buying guides, side by side. Pick a buying intent to score every machine for the same use, then sort any column or filter by resistance, folding, user weight or subscription.
Key takeaways
- Weight rating and rail length decide whether a rower fits your body, not the screen.
- Storage matters as much as size: some rowers fold or stand upright, others keep their full length.
- Check the subscription before you count on a screen: some need one to unlock classes.
- FitScores depend on the buying intent: pick one intent above the table to compare rowers fairly.
Every rowing guide on FitGearHQ is built from the same spec sheet, and this page puts it in one place. Choose a buying intent and every rower gets a FitScore for that same use.
How to Read the Specs
- Resistance: air, water, magnetic, electromagnetic or hydraulic. It sets the feel and the noise; compare within a type. See our air vs magnetic rowing machine comparison.
- Max user weight and height: the limits the brand states. Pick a weight rating above your own; a missing height limit is shown as a dash, not as no limit.
- Rail length: the slide the seat runs on. Tall rowers need a rail long enough for a full stroke; only some listings state it, so the column has gaps.
- Size and storage: assembled length, width and height, and whether the machine folds or stands upright. A rower that does neither keeps its full footprint.
- Resistance levels and screen: the steps the brand lists and the display size in inches. A larger screen can need a paid subscription to be useful.
- Frame warranty: the term as the brand states it. Parts and labor are often shorter, and the FTC warranty guide notes that a warranty can cover parts but not labor.
- FitScore: our 0 to 100 score for the intent you pick above the table, taken from our guide for that use.
Methodology
Specs come from the Amazon US listing first, then from the manufacturer specification sheet or manual when the listing is silent or unclear. When neither source lists a value, the cell shows a dash. We do not estimate missing specs or copy them from similar models.
The index includes only rowing machines that are in stock on Amazon US and ranked in one of our published buying guides; the list updates when our rankings and stock checks change. FitScore and its weights are explained on our how we score page. For the ranked lists, start with our best rowing machine guide.
A rowing session counts toward the CDC guideline of 150 minutes of moderate activity a week; the specs here help you pick a machine you will actually use.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Mistake 1Comparing FitScores from different intents
Instead: Pick one intent above the table; every score in the column then uses the same guide.
Mistake 2Choosing by screen size alone
Instead: A big screen can need a paid subscription to be useful.
Mistake 3Ignoring the rail length
Instead: Tall rowers need a rail long enough for a full stroke; a dash means the listing does not say.
Mistake 4Assuming a dash means zero
Instead: A dash means the spec is not listed, not that the rower lacks it.
The Bottom Line
- 36 in-stock rowing machines: 18 magnetic, 8 water, 4 air, 2 air + magnetic, 2 electromagnetic, 2 hydraulic.
- 17 machines fold or fold and stand upright.
- 28 machines need no subscription.
- Max user weight ranges from 220 to 700 lb.
- Specs from the Amazon US listing first, then the manufacturer.
Frequently Asked Questions
From the Amazon US listing first, then from the manufacturer when the listing does not give the value. Missing specs are marked with a dash.
Many listings do not state the rail length. We leave it blank rather than estimate it.
Our 0 to 100 rating of a model for one buying intent. Scores for different intents are not comparable; our how we score page explains the method.
It depends on feel and noise: air is fast and loud, water is smooth, magnetic is quiet and easy to adjust. Use the resistance filter, then read the guide for that type.
