NordicTrack vs ProForm (2026): Which iFIT Treadmill Brand Fits You?

Nordictrack vs proform: two generic black folding treadmills side by side in a bright living room, one with a large touchscreen console and one with a
Choose NordicTrack if you want the deeper running lineup: 22-inch-wide Commercial decks, motors up to 4.25 HP, 3% decline and touchscreens up to 24 inches. (Illustration, not an actual product photo.)

Short answer

Choose NordicTrack if you want the deeper running lineup: 22-inch-wide Commercial decks, motors up to 4.25 HP, 3% decline and touchscreens up to 24 inches. Choose ProForm if you want the same iFIT classes in a lighter, more accessible range led by the Pro 9000. Both brands need an iFIT membership for classes.

Key takeaways

  • NordicTrack and ProForm share iFIT, so the decision comes down to hardware.
  • NordicTrack offers wider 22 ร— 60-inch decks, 4.25 HP motors and -3% decline on Commercial models.
  • ProForm covers walking and jogging well, and the Pro 9000 (FitScore 91.7) rivals the T Series 16 (92.4).
  • Warranty patterns are similar; the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 lists the only lifetime motor.
  • Both run without a membership in manual mode, but classes and auto-adjust need iFIT.

NordicTrack vs ProForm is an unusual brand comparison, because both names come from the same company. They share the iFIT app, the same membership tiers, similar touchscreen hardware and many of the same engineering choices. The real differences are in the lineup: how big the decks get, how strong the motors are, whether you get decline, how large the screen is and how the warranty is written on each listing.

This guide compares the 13 NordicTrack and ProForm treadmills we reviewed at FitGearHQ, using their specs, warranty terms and FitScores. You will see where each brand is stronger, how the iFIT subscription works on both, and which model from each brand fits walking, jogging, running and class-based training. For the wider brand picture, see our best treadmill brands guide.

NordicTrack vs ProForm at a Glance

NordicTrack covers more ground. Its range runs from compact walking treadmills in the T Series to 400 lb capacity Commercial models built for daily running. ProForm is narrower: the Carbon line targets walkers and casual joggers, and the Pro 9000 is its touchscreen model for runners. The table compares the two lineups using the models we reviewed.

FitScores come from our reviews. A model can score differently in a specific Best guide because each guide weights performance, comfort and features for its own use case.

Lineup Differences: Where Each Brand Sits

NordicTrack splits its treadmills into two families. The T Series covers walking and jogging: the T Series 5 (FitScore 72.9), T Series 7 (80.4) and T 6.5 S (76) use 5-inch LCD consoles, while the T Series 10 (82.4) and T Series 16 (92.4) add touchscreens and 60-inch decks. The Commercial family is built for running, with the Commercial LE (83.3), Commercial 1250 (83), Commercial 1750 (85.4) and Commercial 2450 (86.7).

ProForm keeps things simpler. The Carbon TL (74.8) and Carbon TLS (67.5) are compact walking treadmills with 18-inch-wide belts. The Carbon TLX (77.7) steps up to a 20 ร— 60-inch deck and 3 HP motor, and the Pro 9000 (91.7) brings a 16-inch pivoting touchscreen and a 350 lb capacity.

In practice, ProForm models line up against the lower half of the NordicTrack range. The Carbon TL faces the T Series 5, the Carbon TLX faces the T 6.5 S and T Series 10, and the Pro 9000 faces the T Series 16. ProForm has nothing that matches the Commercial 1750 or 2450 in our data.

Motors and Decks

Motor power tracks the lineup. Both brands start at 2.6 HP on their entry models, which is enough for walking and light jogging. ProForm tops out at 3.6 HP on the Pro 9000. NordicTrack goes to 3.6 HP on the T Series 16, Commercial LE and Commercial 1250, and to 4.25 HP on the Commercial 1750 and 2450, the strongest motors in either brand.

Deck size is the clearer split. Every NordicTrack Commercial model we reviewed uses a 22 ร— 60-inch running surface, which gives runners room for a wide gait and a long stride. No ProForm model in our data goes wider than 20 inches. The Carbon TL and TLS, along with the NordicTrack T Series 5, use 18 ร— 55-inch belts, which suit walking more than running. Our treadmill buying guide explains how belt size relates to stride length.

Cushioning works differently too. NordicTrack uses SelectFlex on the T Series 7, 10 and 16, which you can set from soft to firm, and RunFlex on the Commercial models. ProForm uses ProShox across the models we reviewed. If joint comfort is your main concern, the adjustable SelectFlex deck is one reason the T Series 16 ranks #1 in our best treadmill with cushioning guide.

Pro tip: If you are over 6 feet tall or plan regular runs, look for a 60-inch deck at minimum. That rules out the Carbon TL, Carbon TLS, T Series 5, T Series 7 and T 6.5 S.

Incline and Decline

Both brands use motorized incline on every model we reviewed. Entry models from both reach 10%: the NordicTrack T Series 5, T Series 7 and T 6.5 S, and the ProForm Carbon TL. The Carbon TLS, Carbon TLX and Pro 9000 reach 12%, as do the NordicTrack T Series 10, T Series 16 and all four Commercial models.

Decline is where NordicTrack pulls ahead. The Commercial LE, 1250, 1750 and 2450 all go down to -3%, which lets you simulate downhill sections of a course and follow iFIT routes that include descents. None of the ProForm or T Series models we reviewed offer decline.

With an iFIT membership, compatible models on both brands can change incline automatically to follow a trainer or a mapped route. That makes the incline range more useful than it is on a manual treadmill, because you do not need to adjust it yourself mid-workout. See our best treadmill with incline and best treadmill with automatic incline guides for more options.

Consoles and the iFIT Subscription

Console choice comes down to whether you want a built-in touchscreen. On the LCD models (NordicTrack T Series 5, 7, 6.5 S and Commercial LE; ProForm Carbon TL, TLS and TLX), you stream iFIT on your own phone or tablet over Bluetooth, using the device shelf. On the touchscreen models, the classes run on the treadmill itself: 10 inches on the NordicTrack T Series 10 and Commercial 1250, 16 inches on the T Series 16, Commercial 1750 and ProForm Pro 9000, and 24 inches on the Commercial 2450.

Both brands use the same two iFIT tiers. According to iFIT, the Train tier is built for personal devices and connects a phone or tablet to a Bluetooth-enabled NordicTrack or ProForm machine, while the Pro tier is for equipment with an integrated screen and adds machine-specific workouts and custom workouts. NordicTrack states that only the Pro tier allows extra users, up to five people in total, and that memberships auto-renew unless canceled.

Without a membership, NordicTrack says the treadmill still works in manual mode with a small set of onboard workouts. You lose the class library, automatic speed and incline control and features such as SmartAdjust. Because the app is the same on both brands, iFIT is not a reason to pick one over the other. Screen size and deck size are.

Watch out: Budget for iFIT if classes are the reason you are buying. A touchscreen model without a Pro membership is mostly a manual treadmill with a large display. If you want to avoid subscriptions entirely, see our best treadmill without subscription guide.

Warranty, Build and Support

Warranty terms vary more by listing than by brand. The ProForm Carbon models and NordicTrack T Series 5, 7, 6.5 S and 10 listings we reviewed show a 10-year frame with 1 to 2 years on the motor and parts and 1 year on labor. The ProForm Pro 9000, NordicTrack T Series 16, Commercial LE, Commercial 1250 and Commercial 1750 listings show 2 years on frame, motor, parts and labor. The Commercial 2450 listing stands out with a 10-year frame, lifetime motor, 2-year parts and 1-year labor.

That means NordicTrack has the single strongest motor warranty in this matchup, on the 2450, but neither brand matches the lifetime frame and motor coverage common at Sole and Horizon. Warranty terms can differ between the manufacturer and a marketplace listing, so check the current warranty on the product page before you order.

On build, the heavier NordicTrack Commercial frames carry a 400 lb capacity, against 300 lb on the Carbon models and 350 lb on the Pro 9000. All 13 models fold except the NordicTrack T Series 5. Because both brands come from the same parent company and share the iFIT platform, the software experience and service process are very similar; your choice of model matters more than the badge.

If you mainly walk or jog and want iFIT in a lighter frame, ProForm covers that well, and the Pro 9000 competes with the best touchscreen treadmills we have rated.
